Suicide Prevention Training

Leah & Liesel are with Canadian Mental Health. They will be educating us on suicide issues and a suicide prevention training program. This is also the first meeting for John Pethybridge as our president.

Memorial Arena's future & Parking Strategy for Queens Park

Bregje is the City's Facilites & Recreation Manager and JoAnne is the Community Engagement Co-ordinator. They will update us on the evolving plans for Memorial Arena and review their current project, the development of a strategy for parking in Queens Park. The park hosts the SOEC, Memorial Arena, PT&CC, Casino, and Curling Rink.

Business Meeting, Car Show Update & Sandcastle Competition

Joihn and Directors will be discussing priorities for 2018-19, getting input from members. We are 1 1/2 weeks away from the Rortary Wheels Car Show in Rotary Park and Colleen will review status and volunteer duties. We have just over 2 weeks until the sandcastle building event on Skaha Beach. Richard will review details of plans and required actions.

The Murder of Aniota Budde

Randy is a past member of the Penticton Okanagan Rotary Club and a former Curator of the Penticton Museum & Archives. His family has lived in Penticton for several generations and Randy is a student/teacher of local history. Randy is also an excellent story teller! To learn more about the murder of Aniota Budde and the following police chase, you have to attend the meeting on August 7th.

History of the Kilt

Amanda & Paul own the McPhail Kilt Makers business in Penticton. The hand make kilts for people throughout north America. They also assisted Rotary by promoting & supplying props for the Rotary Scotch Tasting event. Amanda will give a brief history of kilts and will discuss kilt making.

Maple Leaf Spirits

Jorg & Anette created and own Maple Leaf Spirits Inc located on Naramata Road. They will review the history of the property, the challenges of starting the business, the distillery process, their product line, and why you shouild visit their tasting room. Maple Leaf Spirits will also be one of the sponsors of our Scotch Tasting Event.

We will also be presenting our first 'Student of the Month' award for the 2018-2019 school year.
