I am pleased to select Barry Reid as our Club’s Rotarian for the Month of September.
Barry’s selection is a no brainer, given his outstanding contribution to so many facets of our Club’s activities, particularly as Chair of the Projects Committee  The Committee has held two in-person meetings to discuss potential local project to narrow down the list to a manageable number before bringing before our Board and membership for further discussion.
Due to his steadfast commitment and drive, Rotary International recently approved our submission of a Global grant for a $US 48,000 service project in Bangladesh. As testimony to his superior grantsmanship, Barry was able to convert our Club’s initial contribution of $US 7,100 into $US 48,000 with matching amounts from the Canadian government, district and RI, resulting in an almost 7-fold increase from our initial contribution.
Barry has a long history of leading our Club in highly successful Bangladesh Projects, one receiving a District Award some years ago .
He is a member of the newly organized Okanagan Rotary International Project’s Cluster Group and gave a well-received presentation on his own work in this area at the District 5060 Virtual Conference earlier this year..
Since joining our Club in 2007, Barry has usually been on the executive, including serving as President.    He has received number of awards at both Club and district levels, including Paul Harris Fellow, Vern Nielsen “Local Hero” Award, and “Rotarian that Connects the World” Award.
An excellent talent scout, he has sponsored 3 current members in our Club.  In short, Barry is highly respected and dearly loved by our entire
